Thanksgiving Trifle Cake Recipe  (With Fake Beef)


  • 24 oz fresh raspberries (washed and air dried)
  • 0.5 cup raspberry seedless fruit spread or jelly (6 ounces)
  • 2 cups custard or vanilla pudding (16 ounces)
  • 2 cups of whipped cream (2/3 cups of thick cream, 1/2 teaspoon of pure vanilla extract, 2 tablespoons of sugar that is shaken into a stiff peak)
  • 1.5 cups unsweetened coconut shredded (about 2 ounces)
  • 4 ounces canned diced pears (cut into “onion” slices)
  • 3 small kiwis (cut into “bean” shape)
  • 1 trifle dish or glass bowl (7.5 inches in diameter or larger)
  • 1.5 pounds pound cake (diced)
  • 6 tablespoons nutella hazelnut spread (4.5 ounces)
  • 1 medium banana (cut into 1/4 inch slices)


Recipe Steps

  1. Make and chill 2 cups of pudding. I use this easy-to-stir custard recipe. You can also use a mixture of vanilla pudding made with whole milk.
  2. Make a layer of meat. Stir 6 tablespoons of nutella into 1.5 cups of unsweetened coconut (about 2 ounces). Make sure it is combined well. Canned sliced pears, diced (1/4 cup) into small squares. Use the green part of the 3 little kiwis to make “peas.” slice the kiwi 1/4 inch thick then use a thick straw (the same as you use a cookie cutter) to make a round shape. (separate the fruit and coconut until you assemble it.)
  3. Cube-shaped cake. Slice the cake into 3/4 inch slices, cut each slice into six pieces.
  4. Make a layer of jam. Mix 9 ounces of fresh raspberries into 1/2 cup (6 ounces) of seedless raspberry spread. Mash the berries with the back of your spoon.

Assembly Trifle

  1. Place half of the pound cake at the bottom of the rather large glass plate. Cover pound cake with jam.
  2. Spoon one cup of cold pudding on the jam.
  3. Top custard with 9 ounces of fresh raspberries.
  4. Gently, place the remaining pound cake on top of raspberries.
  5. Sprinkle pound cake with coconut “meat” and top it with pear “onion” and kiwi “peas.” make sure there are lots of peas and onions near the edge of the glass plate so that it’s easy to see.
  6. The remaining custard spoon is above the “flesh” layer, leaving 1/2 to 1 inch from the edge. Top custard with banana slices.
  7. Place a little in the fridge to relax when you prepare the cream. Spoon whipped cream over a banana and spread it gently.
  8. Give 6 ounces of fresh raspberries. Cover and chill for several hours or overnight.
